Atlas Plastics donates water tanks to LIV Village Children’s Home

As part of its ongoing mission to give back to local communities, Atlas Plastics has provided a valuable water storage solution to LIV Village, a home for vulnerable and orphaned children in KwaZulu-Natal.

LIV Village, a provider of holistic residential care for abandoned and vulnerable children, recently completed construction of a village dedicated to serving the needs of the children in its care. Several essential items were required, and Atlas Plastics stepped in to donate two high quality water tanks per house.

“LIV Village is doing incredibly good work in the local community, and we are thrilled to have been able to help them in this way,” says Pierre Lategan, director of Atlas Plastics. “We wanted to donate items that would make their lives easier and more comfortable, which would also provide something truly valuable and necessary.”

Water tanks are essential to the everyday running of the village, and have provided a vital source of water for drinking, washing and irrigation. The water tanks will also enable LIV Village to collect and recycle water for various sustainability projects, and will ensure that the residents always have access to the essential resource of water.

“The LIV Village project is very close to our hearts, and we are glad to support such a worthy cause in any way we can,” says Pierre. “We encourage all South Africans to learn more about the village and to discover the amazing work they’re doing in their community.”

About LIV Village

LIV Village has been established to provide a warm, loving and nurturing home-like environment for orphaned and vulnerable children in KwaZulu-Natal. The organisation’s vision is to, “Rescue a child, restore a life, raise a leader, and release a star.” Its aim is to raise the next generation of South Africa’s leaders.

The organisation places parentless children into a family environment where they receive support, care and unconditional love. The LIV Village – the first of its kind – is situated on 83 acres at Cottonlands in KZN, and includes a school and a range of extramural activities, including sports, dancing and music lessons. A clinic, multi-purpose hall and ECD centre for pre-schoolers are currently being built.

“Our favourite time of the day is the late afternoon when the children are going back home after sport and they congregate in their clusters, playing, laughing, singing, dancing, doing ‘kid stuff’,” say Tich and Joan, founders of LIV Village. “Life as it is meant to be lived, is finally happening up on the hill at LIV the way we dreamt and prayed it would be.”
